HALLOWEEN PARTY

Pin the nose on the witch, make a ghost drift across the floor, toss some eyeballs. These are just a few things we might do at our annual Halloween party. The only restriction is no Cubs allowed! If you forget your costume you will have to wear something out of Akela's trunk... Since we will be playing games try not to bring any weapons.

REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE
Sunday, November 11, 2018 7:00 PM

We will walking in the Aurora Remembrance Day parade to pay our respects to men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom as well as assisting our sponsor - Royal Canadian Legion. We will meet at 10:15 at G.W. Williams High School on Dunning Ave and walk to the Cenotaph for the ceremony and present a wreath and then walk back. Please try to participate in this special event as the Royal Canadian Legion is our group sponsor. There will be a lunch served at the Legion after the parade for those who are interested.

SANTA CLAUS PARADE
Saturday, November 24, 2018 7:00 PM

We are marching in the Aurora Santa Claus parade. The parade route is approximately 3 kms. We will meet at St. Andrew's plaza by no later than 5:15. Please look for the Scouting flags. At tthe end of the parade all parade participants need to check in with the leaders before departure to ensure that all youth have been accounted for. If you have any ideas for our float and are willing to help on the committee please contact Terri at packB.ak@5thaurora.com. We will be decorating the float starting at 10 a.m. at Akela's home.

1st Camp
Friday, November 30, 2018 7:00 PM

Our first camp of the year will be at Maplewood Lodge, Woodland Trails Scout Camp on Kennedy Road, just south of Aurora Road. We will be sleeping in the building for two nights but will spend most of the day outside. Further details will follow.

AURORA STREET SALE
Sunday, June 2, 2019 7:00 PM

Every year the 5th Aurora has a booth at the street sale to talk about Scouting and show off Baloo's campfire blanket, etc. The booth is usually manned by Akela and Scouters Fiona and Jim but we would appreciate any assistance from parents who might be willing to help out for an hour or two during the day. If you are interested in volunteering, please speak to Akela Terri.

FALL KIT LIST

Each Cub is required to wear their Uniform to and from Camp (Gear should be marked for easy identification) Bedding: Sleeping Bag Pillow Air mattress or Foam Pad Extra blanket Toiletries Wash Cloth / Towel Toothbrush Paste Plate, cup, bowl, cutlery & mesh bag to hold Soap & Comb

Sun Block Bug Repellant (If possible, please no sprays as they are not good for the tent material) Clothes dress for expected weather. Two or three changes of clothing Underwear (enough for 3 days) T-shirts 3-4 Long Pants & shorts Socks 4-5 pairs Track pants Pajamas 2 pairs (extra for emergencies) Splash Pants Running Shoes (extra old pair if available) Rubber Boots (if available) Sweatshirt Jacket / Rain Coat Campfire Blanket (if available) Toque for Sleeping Hat for daytime Miscellaneous Plastic bags for dirty/wet clothes Paper/Pencil/Pen Flashlight with spare batteries Teddy Bear/sleep toy reading material/comic books Lawn chair Compass (if own one) Please no electronic games or pocket knives! If, in the opinion of the Leaders, your child’s actions prove to be too much to handle, a contact person must be available so that transportation from the camp can be arranged. Parents please indicate any known food allergies, or special needs and inform your section leader as soon as possible prior to camp.
